On your trip to Colombia you can enjoy cities as attractive as Bogota, the capital of the country. Medellin, the city of innovation and eternal spring, Cartagena de Indias, full of stories in every square of its historic center.

Colombia is the second country in biodiversity, for this reason due to its geography and location on the equator allows us to have no seasons, we have is dry seasons which is generally from December to January, and July to August; and rainy season from April to May and October to November. Keep in mind that the cities change climate from cold to warm depending on their location in the mountains of the Andes. The higher the altitude, the colder it gets.

Our country has paramos like Chingaza, glacial zones like the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, tropical jungles like the Amazon, archeology like San Agustin and Tierradentro, deserts like the Guajira or the Tatacoa; We have countless attractions among them we highlight the coffee zone, declared by UNESCO as cultural landscape heritage, Caño Cristales river of colors.

More than 1,900 species of birds, having the privilege of obtaining the first place as the most diverse country in the world in terms of avifauna. The birding tour will cover all regions of Colombia, Andean, Amazon, Orinoco, Pacific and Caribbean.

We are the second country with more flowering plants, our national flower is the orchid, the May flower or May lily belongs to the genus Cattleya, you will be able to get to know many species on an attractive circuit through the Andean region.

During the trip you will learn about the exotic fruits that grow in our land, thanks to the location of the country, because the equatorial zone provides light all year round and maintains an excellent quality that is reflected in its colors, flavors and aromas.

And finally you will always have the smoothest coffee in the world, we have been positioning ourselves as a destination for tourism focused on the culture, landscape and cultivation of Colombian Coffee, not only can you find coffee farms in the coffee region, there are others near Bogota, Santander, Santa Marta, Antioquia, Nariño, Huila and Valle del Cauca, for this reason we can make a trip inspired by one of the most consumed drinks in the world and of which we are recognized for its aroma and flavor.

The country, having such a low latitude, does not have the 4 seasons such as summer, winter, autumn or spring.  We have several climates that occur, from tropical climates to cold mountain climates through dry and temperate climates, and the presence of polar climates only in the snowy peaks in the high mountains of the Andes. This is because the country is located on the Equator, which means that the sun rises and sets at the same time throughout the year and the season remains the same, unlike almost all other countries in the world. There are only dry seasons (December to January and July to August) and rainy seasons (April to May and October to November).

Temperatures in Colombia are below 1000 meters above sea level, being in the tropical zone, the destinations with higher temperatures of 26 °C - 32 °C are located in the lower regions such as the Caribbean region, the eastern plains, the Amazon and the Pacific.  Additionally, the three mountain ranges cause temperatures to vary considerably in the Andean zone, ranging from mild temperatures of 17° to 23° and cold temperatures of less than 17° to 0°.

One of the most surprising things about Colombia for foreign visitors is the unchanging nature of its climate throughout the year.

BOGOTÁ

The weather in Bogota is temperate. Throughout the day, the temperature generally fluctuates between 46 and 68ºF, so fall clothing is perfect. And, of course, always carry an umbrella, as Bogota's climate is prone to frequent showers.

Note that the city is located at an impressive 8,530 feet above sea level. This does not usually cause problems for tourists; however, try to make it a habit to drink plenty of water, eat well and get adequate rest.

VILLA DE LEYVA

The average temperature in Villa de Leyva is around 64 ° F. Sometimes, during the day, it can be hot, but it is best to bring a jacket to wear at night. And, of course, sunscreen is essential.

REGIÓN CAFÉ

The temperature in the Coffee Cultural Landscape is warm and pleasant; however, it might be an idea to bring a jacket or cardigan for the evenings just in case.

SANTA MARTA

Santa Marta's climate is warm, with an average temperature of 82.4°F and a dry climate due to the breezes coming from the Sierra Nevada. We also recommend that you bring medication, painkillers, sunscreen and insect repellent. It is also very important that, during your visit to Santa Marta, you only drink bottled water, not tap water.

CARTAGENA

The climate in Cartagena de Indias is enviable. The city is comfortably warm or hot most of the year. The temperature generally fluctuates between 73 and 86º F. It is quite humid and hot. So lighter clothing.  All activities are casual, dressing for dinner is up to you, but not necessary.

We recommend using the ATM when arriving at the airport to have cash in Colombian pesos. The exchange houses at the airport the exchange rate is lower, it is better to ask the tour guide for a recommended exchange house to change money. ATMs usually offer a good rate, so it will always be a good choice. This is our recommendation in case you want to buy something from the street or the establishment does not have a dataphone. All major credit cards, including Amex, are widely accepted in all cities.

Dorado Experiences “Cuando el mito se convierte en Leyenda”

Our name wishes to express through the image the history of the legend of El Dorado and to transmit the qualities that represent us through the history of a myth that, with time, when the Muisca raft was found in the Guatavita Lagoon, became a legend. Currently the raft is in the Gold Museum of Bogota.

On the other hand, the spiral has a very important meaning in the Muisca mythology, it signifies the creation, which unwinds and gives origin to the mountain, thus arriving to the sky and the sun.

As DMC in Colombia, we are born with the desire to show the world the tourist attractions of the country designing a trip with meaning, looking for a responsible tourist and with the purpose that each person who visits us manages to collaborate with the local economy, impacting the environment in the best way, leaving a mark in each of the territories visited. History of the Legend:  The Muiscas bathed and adorned in gold their children who would become adults. They put them on a raft that they pushed to the center of the lagoon as an offering. This legend became very famous and for this reason many explorers visited the Muisca territories in search of gold pieces or the Golden city that would exist somewhere, exploiting and excavating in search of wealth, but damaging the ecosystems.
