Hills of Mavecure Guainía
Located in the department of Guainía, which is part of the Amazon region of Colombia. Guainia in the Yuri language means Land of many waters.
As well as its capital, Inírida, according to legend was a princess who became the flower of Inírida, which only grows in the wet and sandy surroundings of the population.
Most of the territory is made up of extensions of jungle plains, and some elevations called tepuis stand out, which are part of the Guayana massif, the oldest mountainous formation on the planet.
Fishing, livestock and agriculture are its main economic tributary, additionally it is being visited by tourists to admire its great nature and tour the hills of Mavecure, the lagoon of Las Brujas and the raudal of Sapuara.
Among the most important parks and natural reserves of the department are the Puinawai national nature reserve.
The hills of Mavecure, is a set of three monoliths called Pajarito, Mono and Mavicure, located 50 km from Inírida, to arrive can only be done by river, the travel time is approximately 2 hours.
The hills are considered the main site of interest in the department, and an impressive viewpoint of the Guania jungles inhabited by indigenous communities Puinaves and curripacos.
Taste the food based on typical products of the region prepared by the community and the ascent to the tepuy to take an excellent picture of the landscape of the Guayanes shield.
Climb up to the canopy at the top of the trees and make the crossing passing approximately 20 meters high. A unique experience and a delicious swim in the waters of the Atabapo River at the Piedra de Maviso.
- The average temperature is 27°C all year round. Therefore you should wear very fresh and comfortable clothes in cotton, long sleeve shirts and pants that cover up to the ankles. Wear non-slip shoes with good grip, waterproof recommendations and, if you have boots, high shin boots.
- Bring a flashlight, as there is no electricity in the indigenous cabins.
- Bring personal medications if you are undergoing medical treatment.
- Bring snacks since they are not available during the tour.
- Carry repellent, preferably non-aerosol, so as not to contaminate the environment and to protect yourself from mosquitoes.
- Wear a poncho type plastic cape.

- It is advisable to carry a large backpack for all the luggage and not wheeled suitcases for the trips to the destination and the region, and a small backpack for the outings.
- It is very important to keep in mind that this is a trip to the jungle; it is a program of experiences to share with the indigenous communities, eat regional food and sleep in basic conditions in community cabins, so it is warned and clarified that there are no conditions for luxury services.
- To arrive to Inírida flights must be with the national airline Satena that operates the route BOGOTA - INIRIDA - BOGOTA on Thursdays, Saturdays and Mondays. These may change according to the itineraries and policies of the airline.
- Another alternative is to travel from Villavicencio, capital of the department of Meta, on Thursdays and Saturdays. To arrive in Villavicencio you can travel by land, 2 hours and 30 minutes from Bogota.
